Snow Day

This past weekend, while it was snowing, I felt like doing a painting. My cousin was over working on her homework, so I sat her down, gave her a cup of hot chocolate, and made her pose.

Summer Murals

In July, I did my first mural, which was in my sister's room. She wanted a beach theme, and released me to just attack the walls with whatever I wanted, so here's how it came out:

Me and the mermaid...probably my favorite part :)

In August, my cousin, Laura Emelio, asked me to paint a portrait of herself as a ballerina on her bedroom wall. Capturing her face and figure in this rather difficult pose was a fun challenge. I camped out in her room for a good portion of the weekend while they were gone to Washington, listened to a book on tape, stole just a little bit of their food, and painted like a maniac. Here's some pics:

My art workshop trip to Tilghman's Island:

Last month, my parents took me to a workshop at Tilghman's Island as a graduation gift. I stayed in the tiny town for a three day weekend, eating lots of good food and painting at various nostalgic locations. It was a great experience, except for the fact that the bar across the street from our hotel blasted karaoke late into the night...which was impressive considering that most everyone there was retired.

Anyway, here are some pictures:

Painting a sunset plein air was an interesting experience. I'd never done it before, and I had to scramble to get the colors down before the scene suddenly changed. By the end, I'd altered the colors so many times that I gave up on capturing it perfectly. It was, however, one of the most beautiful sunsets I'd ever seen :)

Poor Dad...
And here are two finished paintings. There was one other, but it is sold.

Here they are in an art gallery:
